Resistive Components
Diamond is the best thermal conductor on earth. Combined with a low dielectric constant, it is an excellent RF dielectric material for high-frequency applications in which thermal performance is equally critical. By applying cutting-edge thin film process and extensive millimeter wave design experience, Smiths Interconnect has created a high-performance line of resistive components. The resulting products, our Diamond RF Resistives® resistors, terminations, and attenuators, are significantly reduced in size and unparalleled in average and peak power handling.

Switch Probes
A Switch Probe is a spring contact probe and receptacle combination that is normally open, and after a designated travel the switch probe closes. The most common use for switch probes is in the cable harness testing industry. The switch probe is used to verify the correct location of a terminal in a connector while checking the retention force as well. Switch probes also verify the presence of nonconductive components such as caps for connectors or devices on a circuit board. Smiths Interconnect offers three standard sizes of switch probes.

Hyperboloid Contacts
Hypertac® hyperboloid is the original superior performing contact technology for use in demanding environments where reliability and safety are critical. The shape of the contact sleeve is formed by hyperbolically arranged contact wires, which align themselves elastically as contact lines around the pin, providing a number of linear contact paths. The smallest practical pin diameter is 0.3mm but there is effectively no upper limit.

Embedded Transceivers
Embedded transceivers are chip-sized components based on 850 nm VCSELs and offer bandwidth up to 300 Gbps for short reach applications (<300 m). These transceivers can be soldered or socketed to a printed circuit board and are well suited for small, compact systems requiring high I/O density, low power, and small space. Many of these transceivers have been qualified to operate in harsh environments, such as the ones found in space, and aerospace and defense applications.

Fiber Optic Terminus
ARINC 801
The ARINC 801 fiber optic terminus is the next generation of high density, butt joint interconnect technology. With its standard 1.25 mm ferrule and sleeve, the ARINC 801 terminus is designed for both multimode and single-mode applications. For the pull-proof design, the cable jacket is crimped on an external body and a floating mechanism avoids any loss of performance when pulling on the cable. This feature allows for the use of the connector without a backshell. Standard connector formats include MIL-DTL-38999 type, MIL-DTL-83527 type, ARINC 600 and ARINC 781.
