The LC-4000 Series RHPLC system with a maximum operating pressure of 700 bar (70 MPa) has been designed to future-proof your HPLC requirements. The system can be used with conventional 3 – 5 μm particle size analytical columns at typical lower pressures around 10 to 20 MPa (1,500 to 3,000 psi) and can also be used with smaller particles such as shorter length UHPLC columns and Superficially Porous Particles (SPP) or Coreshell that require slightly higher pressure solvent delivery to provide optimum linear velocity through the column.

The LC-4000 UHPLC System is great for chromatographers who need to run a large number of samples or get results quickly. Pioneering column technology continues to push particle sizes ever smaller. The LC-4000-130 UHPLC (130MPa – 20,000 psi) is designed to take advantage of the separation efficiency of the very small particles coupled with longer and narrower columns. The LC-4000-130 system incorporates many of the same features as the 70 MPa system, but with materials designed to withstand even higher pressures.

The semi-prep SFC has capacity for larger scale purification, but can still be used for analytical scale method development. The system is optimized for 10mm and 20mm ID columns. The open-bed fraction collector can be triggered on time, threshold or slope based on signals from up to 4 different detectors signals including UV, PDA, fluorescence, CD and/or MS. The macro cyclone separators provide simple gas-liquid separation for excellent fraction recoveries typically greater than 95%. Fractions can be collected using an open bed fraction collector or an 8-way valve.

Film Thickness Measurement

Film thickness measurement can be measured using a number of different techniques depending on the thickness and number of layers. In its simplest form a simple measurement can be made of a single layer with a reflective lower surface using interference fringes. For more complex materials with multiple layers interference measurement is still made, but the mathematical deconvolution becomes increasingly important as does the refractive index of each layer.
