Ironwood’s GHz BGA & QFN/MLF sockets are ideal for prototyping and testing almost any BGA or QFN device application. These ZIF sockets provide excellent signal integrity yet remain cost effective. Innovative elastomer interconnect technology that delivers low signal loss up to >40GHz and supports BGA or QFN/MLF pitches down to 0.3mm was utilized in these sockets. GHz BGA sockets are mechanically mounted over a target system’s BGA lands using mounting and alignment holes at proper locations (page 2 of the individual socket drawing shows recommended PCB layout information). These low-profile sockets are only 2.5 mm per side larger than actual IC packages (industry’s smallest footprint). They support IC devices with body sizes ranging from 55mm down to 1mm. Larger body sizes may require a backing plate. If the backside of the target PCB contains capacitors and resistors, a custom insulation plate with cavities cut for those components can be designed. This insulation plate sandwiches between the backing plate and target PCB.

Among other things, solar array simulators are required for testing satellite power supplies. An SAS (Solar Array Simulator), consisting of an interconnection of several Solar Array Simulator modules, maps the solar panels and displays the individual strings connected in parallel. Optionally, the individual SAS modules are monitored by a Second Level Protection, so that the test object is not damaged in case of errors with the voltage sources. Additional circuitry is implemented via project-specific test modules. The signal path to the DUT can be separated, e.g. for dynamic current measurements.The Keysight Solar Array Simulators used were specially developed for satellite applications and cover the significantly higher requirements regarding the control speed of MPP tracking compared to terrestrial applications.

The Analog Devices family of I2C solutions support hot swappable, 2-wire bidirectional bus buffers to allow I/O card insertion into a live backplane without corruption of the data and clock busses. Additional supported 2-wire buses include SMBus, PMBus, the ATCA intelligent platform management bus (IPMB), and the HDMI DDC bus. I2C/SMBus Accelerators improve bus transitions to allows multiple device connections or a longer, more capacitive interconnect, without compromising slew rates or bus performance. ADI's software-programmable and pin-selectable I2C multiplexers help resolve I2C address limitations, increase fan-in or fan-out, and integrate bus buffers and rise time accelerators for an all-in-one solution. With COM Port Splitter you can split one real port into several virtual ports, join real ports into one virtual, and redirect the serial traffic from real port to another real or virtual. You can also share one real serial port among several applications so that they will receive the same data from one serial port simultaneously. You can also join several ports under one name and let applications switch among the free ones. COM Port Splitter is very good at splitting any hardware COM port into multiple virtual COM ports, so that each of them behaves exactly like the original port and has the same name. All virtual ports receive any data that is received by the original port at the same time. For example, COM Port Splitter can let a single serial device interact with multiple applications at the same time. Another job COM Port Splitter can do for you is join some real COM ports into one virtual port, which is rather useful when you need some application to handle multiple serial devices simultaneously. All data received by one of the joined COM ports is instantly forwarded to the joining virtual port and to the application, and vice versa. It is also possible to redirect all serial traffic from a hardware COM port to another COM port (hardware or virtual) with COM Port Splitter, meaning that any data sent to the redirected port is immediately received on the port you redirected it to. You may need this in case you are using some software with very strict serial-port settings and instead of figuring out how to modify those settings you can just redirect the data traffic to it. Besides, COM Port Splitter is essential for creating complex bundles of real and virtual serial ports and interconnecting them as you wish, therefore enabling data exchange between those ports.

The 40-196 is a 10 Channel 5A Fault Insertion Switch, primarily designed for the simulation of fault conditions in automotive & avionics applications involving the reliability testing of safety critical controllers. It is designed to be able to insert different fault conditions between the test fixture and the equipment under test: Open-Circuit, Short-Circuit between signal pairs, Short-Circuit between signal pairs and user applied fault conditions e.g. Power or GND. Shorting relays on each channel enable UUT signals to be subjected to external user applied fault conditions or to be shorted to the adjacent signal in the same channel. Relays in line with the signal allow open circuit conditions to be simulated on either side or both sides of a channel signal pair. The switching topology of the 40-196 allows channels to be interconnected so that complex fault insertion systems can be constructed.
