The Piranha platform employs a NI single board RIO (sbRIO), NI C Series I/O modules, and custom circuitry. Piranha systems are not dependent on a separate host computer. They offer both Ethernet, and Wi-Fi connectivity to a powerful real-time controller and high performance field-programmable gate array (FPGA) and up to two (2) C Series I/O modules. It provides stand-alone embedded execution for deterministic LabVIEW Real-Time applications. These controllers are designed for ruggedness, reliability, and low power consumption. The heart of Piranha system is the reconfigurable I/O (RIO) FPGA core. The RIO core has an individual connection to each I/O module and is programmed using easy to use elemental I/O functions to read or write signal information from each module. Multiple units can also be daisy changed together for larger applications.

The Validyne model SI314 is a network interface that connects our model P61 USB pressure Transducer to your smart phone or network web browser. The SI314 supports Ethernet and Wi-Fi connections and will display current pressure readings and transducer status on any web browser or via smart phone. The SI314 also displays the transducer temperature, date of calibration, model and serial numbers and these can be viewed wirelessly or by Ethernet connection. The SI314 makes your P61 accessible from anywhere in the world. Data logging of pressure data is configured via a web browser or smart phone and readings may be stored once per minute to once per hour. A thumb drive or memory card collects the data in comma separated file format(csv) for download to your computer. The data may also be accessed via the network. A graph of the data is also generated on request. A Twitter function allows pressure data to be tweeted from the SI314 at user-defined intervals. The transducer zero and span calibration adjustments are password protected and operated via browser buttons. No potentiometer adjustments are required to calibrate the P61 transducer. The IRU152 is powered by the low-power NXP i.MX 6 UltraLite processer. It can withstand an extended operating temperature range of -40°C to +70°C and up to 2G of vibration for operating in harsh environments. Furthermore, it supports NI LabVIEW to allow users to design graphical user interfaces for their measurement applications quickly and efficiently. In order to provide data collection and device control, the IRU152 comes with various I/O connectors, including four analog input (AI) channels, one isolated RS-232/422/485 port, one isolated LAN and one isolated DIO (2-in/2-out). The four analog input channels have differential input configuration and overvoltage protection of 55V DC. The maximum sampling rate of IRU152 is up to 250 kS/s with a 16-bit resolution for low-speed high-resolution sensor monitoring and signal measurements. Apart from the abovementioned features, the IRU152 comes in two PCI Express Mini Card slots and one SIM card slot for Wi-Fi, 3G/4G and LoRa connections. The DIN-rail embedded system is equipped with onboard 512MB DDR3 SDRAM; besides, they have an 8GB eMMC flash memory.
