NDT carried out at KLL includes:Liquid Penetrant Testing (LPT) is used for the detection of surface breaking discontinuities on magnetic and non-magnetic metallic materials.Fluorescent and colour contrast penetrants are available to be used in the following methods:-Water washableSolvent removablePost emulsifiableMagnetic Particle Inspection (MT/MPI) is used for the detection of surface breaking and slightly sub-surface (up to 2mm) discontinuities.Bench type crack detectors and portable units are employed producing various waveforms (i.e. A.C, HWDC and induced magnetic flow) to give both circular and longitudinal magnetism.On-site testing is carried out using electro magnetic yokes and permanent magnets producing induced magnetic flow.Ultrasonic Flaw Detection (UT), also known as Ultrasonic Inspection, is used for the detection of volumetric discontinuities in ferrous and non-ferrous products (forgings and castings etc.), and welds in magnetic and non-magnetic materials.UT is capable of penetrating metals, dependent on the material characteristics, up to 10m in length.Some thickness and depth checks can also be carried out using ultrasound.Radiography services are available through sub-contract booked in advance. The CTA current sensors convert ac current to an isolated 0-5A current with available ranges from 100A to 10,000A. Because the current sensors are flexible split core, installation is possible without shutting down the LV electrical supply, avoiding expensive down-time costs. Typical applications are retrospective energy monitoring in factories, offices buildings, process control data logging systems, where power, energy and current monitoring is important. Typical applications are factories, offices buildings, ac/dc VFD drives, welding, power conversion and power distribution. For all CTA current sensor models, a NIST/NPL (UKAS) traceable calibration certificate and certificate of conformance is supplied. All CTA sensors use UL94V0 or CSA approved materials. The CTA flexible current sensors are suited to permanent or semi permanent installation. The coil sensor is durable, lightweight, flexible and will easily clip-around a power cable. The 5A output from the CTA current sensor connects direct to installed metering, rotary metering or current transducers.

Model 90061 is a self-contained, portable measurement system which allows auditing of the pinch force generated between the electrodes of resistance spot welders. Resistance welding uses a pair of electrodes to clamp two base metals firmly together prior to and during application of electrical current. Poorly clamped parts result in a defective joint. A correctly clamped assembly aids in reducing the resistance in the joint and allows the current flow to properly heat the base metals to weld the part.

The RMO-E instruments are designed and ideal for testing protective bonding (grounding) of equipment following the standard IEC 61010-1. Also, they can measure the resistance of high, middle and low voltage circuit breakers, high-current bus bar joints, cable splices, and welding joints. The instruments accurately measure not only in factory environments but also in high-induction fields and substations.Both models generate a true DC ripple-free (less than 1 %) current with automatically regulated test ramps. During a test, the protective bonding testers automatically generate increasing current before measuring and decreasing current after the measurement. Consequently, this significantly decreases magnetic transients and ensures great accuracy.These instruments can store up to 500 measurements in the internal memory and have a built-in thermal printer available as an option.DV Win software communicates with the RMO-E earth resistance meter via USB or RS232 interface. This group of accelerometers is made up of the 3000 and 5000 Series. The 3000 Series are standard size units, including many with all welded construction, that are hermetically sealed for use in dirty and humid environments. The 5000 Series are smaller and lighter in weight than standard units. Characteristics are almost identical except that with miniature units higher natural frequencies and shock levels can be obtained due to their inherently reduced mass. Sensitivities, however are somewhat lower. High Temperature models are available that operate to +500°F. For best performance use with the Columbia Model 4601 Charge Amplifier or Model 5810 Inline Charge Converter.
