Designed with speed and operational simplicity in mind, the Transient Hot Wire (THW-L2) Liquid Thermal Conductivity Meter is an advanced measurement system for direct determination of the thermal conductivity of liquids and pastes in accordance with ASTM D7896-19. In less than 2 seconds, a single measurement of small volumes of liquids and pastes can be accurately and precisely measured for thermal conductivity. Using a non-stationary measurement approach, the THW-L2 uses rapid test times to limit convective effects for samples with a wide range of viscosities. The THW sensor consists of a 60 mm heating wire that is fully inserted into an isothermal sample. A constant current source (q) is used to heat the sensor wire and the temperature rise is recorded by monitoring the change in electrical resistance of the wire. The slope (m) is determined from the plot of temperature rise vs. logarithm of time and is used in the calculation of thermal conductivity (λ). Liquid samples of high thermal conductivity will have a lower slope, while liquid samples with low thermal conductivity will have a higher slope.

The contents of ISO 527 and JIS K 7161 are basically the same, but differ from the equivalent ASTM standard for tensile testing of plastics, ASTM D638.

The EM-2107A is a standard test fixture for evaluation of the electromagnetic shielding effectiveness of planar material. The fixture is an enlarged section of coaxial transmission line and complies fully with the requirements of ASTM test method D4935-1. The measured data relates to the shielding effectiveness due to a plane wave (far field EM wave) from which near field values for magnetic and electric fields may be inferred. The EM-2107A is provided with a reference standard test specimen, a dynamic range specimen. All use an improved version of Epsilon’s dual flexure design which makes them very rugged for their size. With a module height of 15.2 mm (0.6 inches), they will fit in the limited space between grips that is typical with small test samples. Gauge lengths can be as short as 3 mm or as long as 50 mm. A newly designed gage setting pin and assembly allows the gauge length to be set accurately and repeatably to ASTM and ISO requirements for all gauge lengths. Reengineered quick attach wire forms provide simple and secure specimen attachment. Wire forms for round and flat specimens are included, as well as flat, 3-point, and vee knife edges. The wire forms may be removed to enable mounting using elastic bands or springs. A tethering attachment point provides fall protection and enables counterbalancing of the extensometer’s weight when testing delicate specimens.Model 3442 extensometers are strain gaged devices, making them compatible with any electronics designed for strain gaged transducers. Most often they are connected to a test machine controller and Epsilon will equip the extensometer with a compatible connector wired to plug directly into the controller. For systems lacking the required electronics, Epsilon can provide a variety of solutions for signal conditioning and connection to data acquisition systems, chart recorders, or other equipment.
