The Waveform Generation Tool provides a simplified interface for baseband modulation of Keysight's wide bandwidth signal simulation solutions, for signals with up to 1 GHz RF bandwidth. Even the most complex signals are defined and implemented easily through the software interface. Signals can be defined through basic parameter entry or from files created in MATLAB or other engineering environments. For each selection in the main menu, a subsequent screen appears, enabling the user to enter the parameters required to define the waveform and invoke the built-in calibration routines. A speed switch senses rotating shaft speed, comparing it to one or more settable over/under/zero speed alarm trip-points. A shaft speed sensor detects magnets embedded in a shaft-mounted pulser wrap/disc. As the shaft rotates, the passing magnets are detected across an air-gap as pulses with frequency proportional to shaft RPM. When a conveyor belt or bucket elevator begins to slip the pulse frequency (shaft RPM) crosses to the alarm side of a trip-point threshold, a corresponding relay de-energizes, providing shutdown or alarm.
