Current Transformers
The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers defines a current transformer (IEEE Std C57.13) as “a transformer intended to reproduce in its secondary circuit, in a definite and known proportion, the current of its primary circuit with the phase relations substantially preserved”. Its primary winding is connected in series with the conductor carrying the current to be measured or to be controlled and its secondary winding is connected to the measuring, protection or control devices. 90 Degree Hybrid Couplers To 500 MHz
Hybrid couplers with bandwidths as broad as 125:1 are available for applications within 100 kHz to 500 MHz. Power handling is 1 watt maximum for a load VSWR of 1.2:1 or better. These hybrids have an isolation of 20 dB and phase balance of 3 degrees. Most models have a VSWR of 1.4:1 or better throughout their operating bandwidths.Pulsar Microwave currently offers these hybrid couplers packaged in three outlines, including an SMT version. With single phase AC input, the DC output ripple is very high (50%). With three phase AC input, the DC output ripple is low (5%).
