You can use matrix switches to route signals from oscilloscopes, DMMs, arbitrary waveform generators, and power supplies to various test points on a unit under test (UUT). The primary benefit of matrix switches is simplified wiring—the overall test system can easily and dynamically change the internal connection path without any external manual intervention.

The 50-510A series of matrix cards feature a wide range of switching configurations (22x4, dual 20x4, 22x8 and 44x4). Larger matrices may be constructed by daisy chaining the common signals from multiple cards. Expansion cables are available for the 50-512 and 50-513: The 50-512 can be expanded to 44x8 or the 50-513 can be expanded to 88x4 using two cards linked by the ribbon cable assembly 50-976-020-0.1M. Also the 50-512 can be expanded to 22x16 or the 50-513 can be expanded to 44x8 using two cards linked by the ribbon cable assembly 50-976-050-0.1M.

Matrices are created by populating the 65-200 scalable matrix chassis with plug-in modules that provide access to the X axis on 15-pin D-type connectors and the Y axis on 50-pin D-type connectors. The chassis is capable of supporting matrices with a Y axis size of 20 or 40 and X axis sizes up to 60 in increments of 10. Users can specify as many or as few plugin modules as they require and can field upgrade the chassis to extend the matrix size.
