Our advanced, rugged, industrial-grade, RS232 / RS485 / RS422 serial to multi-drop fiber optic converters are designed to cover large areas. These converters support up to 255 fiber nodes, and each fiber node can extend the RS232 / RS422 / RS485's distance to 3 miles (5km) for multi-mode converters and cables, or 25 miles (40km) for single-mode converters and cables. Depending on the site situation, these multi-drop fiber optic converters can be configured as a daisy-chain or a self-healing redundant ring fiber network. When configured as a ring fiber network, the built-in self-healing feature allows the data to be transmitted clockwise or counterclockwise; therefore, failure of any individual converter will not affect other devices located on the same fiber ring, making the entire data network more robust and reliable. These multi-drop fiber optic converters have been designed for harsh industrial environments and withstand a wide temperature of -40°F to 185°F (-40°C to 85°C), and they come with the options of multi-mode and single-mode, and ST, SC, and FC connectors.

The unique design of the splice accommodates either 125um or 140um fiber and any size buffer up to 900um. The precision made splice holder firmly holds the pigtail in position without causing stress on the fiber. The low viscosity index matching liquid has an indefinite shelf life and allows for an easy glide of the bare fiber into the splice. Within seconds, a fiber acceptance reading can be made with an OTDR or test set. Low loss with minimum back reflection can easily be achieved for more accurate signatures.
