Pyroelectric and Thermal Testing
The optional Chamber Task measures the Pulse Polarization response and Small Signal Capacitance of a Pyroelectric material that is being heated and/or cooled within a thermal chamber, on a hot chuck or in a furnace. From these measurements the Spontaneous Polarization Pr(q) and the Dielectric Constant er(q) are computed. ELTRA’s CW-800 analyzer is designed for the precise, simultaneous determination of carbon dioxide and water in lime, gypsum and cement from trace level up to 100 % (depending on sample weight). Other sample materials include ores, soil and minerals. The CW-800 is equipped with a resistance furnace with quartz tube for sample oxidation and can provide temperatures up to 1000 °C. The temperature of the CW-800 can be set up in steps of 1 °C and the temperature is fixed during measurement. As common carrier gas in the CW-800 nitrogen is used.

Furnaces
These three zone resistance wire wound furnaces are of split construction to facilitate fast and easy loading of a pre-assembled specimen train. The case is constructed from stainless steel with aluminium and hardened insulation board end plates. The optional front cut-out allows the use of side-entry high-temperature extensometry. Adjustable stainless steel latches keep the furnace halves locked together during use, but are then easily opened once testing is complete. The furnace is available with optional heavy duty brackets or mountings, which attach to a wide range of testing systems. An extensive range of standard controllers is available to suit most test regimes. Custom variants can be specified should the standard range not include a suitable unit.

The Model 3549 is a major advancement in the design of externally mounted, furnace extensometers. This new extensometer is designed to meet the stringent requirements of strain controlled testing as prescribed in ISO 6892, while introducing many new innovative features that help improve productivity with static testing applications (tension and compression testing) and long term testing such as low cycle fatigue and creep. The overall design reduces any influence from common lab environment vibrations. This unit also incorporates a new feature that allows the user to precisely set the contact force against the test specimen. This allows for even and repeatable contact force, limiting contact force induced errors. This extensometer mounts on a slide bracket (included) that can attach to the load frame of your test system; optional load frame mounting brackets are available. These COD gages mount on a water-cooled bracket, which is mounted on the furnace side cut-out or with optional load frame support brackets. The standard temperature version (to 1200℃) is supplied with high purity alumina rods. The high temperature option is furnished with alpha grade silicon carbide rods. Rods are made to order to the length required for your furnace. Mounting brackets may be integrated with the furnace cut-out. Epsilon can also provide optional load frame mounting brackets to fit your test frame. Contact edges on the test sample should be somewhat rounded (not sharp knife edges) for best performance with this model. The Model 3548COD extensometers are strain gaged devices, making them compatible with any electronics designed for strain gaged transducers. Most often they are connected to a test machine controller. The signal conditioning electronics for the extensometer is typically included with the test machine controller or may often be added. In this case the extensometer is shipped with the proper connector and wiring to plug directly into the electronics. For systems lacking the required electronics, Epsilon can provide a variety of solutions, allowing the extensometer output to be connected to data acquisition boards, chart recorders or other equipment.
