The LilyPad Light Sensor is a sewable breakout board with an ALS-PT19 light sensor built in and ready to use right away. Each sensor outputs voltage between 0V and 3.3V depending on the level of ambient light shining on it. As more light is applied on the sensor, more current will flow from the board through the signal tab to the microcontroller you connect the sensor to. If the sensor receives no light, no current will flow through it. In a typical indoor lighting situation, the sensor will output around 1 to 2V. Adding this board into your next e-textile or wearable project will really open up the possibilities by being able to incorporate light level sensing capabilities.

Proximity detection sensors measure reflected infrared (IR) energy to detect the presence of an object or person. The devices include an integrated LED driver and, in some devices, an integrated LED. The proximity detection devices provide four programmable LED drive currents and IR pulse repetitions. The proximity detection circuitry compensates for ambient light, allowing it to operate in environments ranging from bright sunlight to dark rooms. The wide dynamic range allows operation in short-distance detection applications behind dark glass, such as mobile phones. Proximity detection sensors can be used to replace a mechanical switch or to sense human gestures.

Light-to-Frequency (LTF) sensors convert measurements of light intensity to a digital form for direct interfacing to a microcontroller. The output of the device is a square wave or pulse stream the frequency of which is linearly proportional to the light intensity. Highly integrated breakout board for the ST Micro VL53L0X Time of Flight (ToF) range finder sensor, which builds on the absolute ranging technology introduced with the VL6180X. The VL53L0X drops the ambient light sensing capability of it's predecessor for a 10X improvement in absolute ranging capability, bringing the maximum possible range to 2 meters! As a result, this sensor has even more uses in the robotics, cell phone and gesture recognition space. The SEN-36003 includes the VL53L0X IC mounted between two 4-40 sized mounting holes with on board 2.8V LDO and high-speed signal translation to handle interface voltages from 3V to 5V. The board is interfaced via an I2C interface and function pins have been broken out to a 0.1" pin header. All pins are translated to allow interfacing with any microcontroller in the 3V to 5V operating range.
