The Ф4 Ultra-high Vacuum Scanning Kelvin Probe system gives the user full access to work function measurements under vacuum with the ability to alter the temperature from 77 K to 860 K. The Kelvin Probe measurement has resolution of 1 - 3 meV for a 2 mm tip on a conducting sample. The sample is mounted on a plate that is located on a motorized (x, y, z) translator attached to a stainless-steel vacuum chamber. Phi 4 also comes with a photoemission spectroscopy system with a tuneable source (3.4 - 7.0 eV). The deep ultra-violet (DUV) light spot measures approximately 3 x 4 mm. Absolute work function measurements can be obtained with this system in the range of 4.0 - 6.5 eV with an accuracy of 0.05 - 0.1 eV.

The main body of this unique extensometer remains stationary during testing, held in position by the adjustable magnetic base included. Only the very light, small traveling heads move as the sample elongates during a test. These attach to the sample with small spring clips. Each head pulls a cord out from the extensometer as the head moves. These models use high precision, low friction potentiometers, and, as a result, have a wide range of factory selectable outputs. The extensometer is driven by an excitation voltage and has output proportional to the input. They can be provided with high level outputs (approximately 2-8 VDC) or ones that mimic strain gaged devices (2-4 mV/V). When set to mimic strain gaged extensometers, the Model 3800 can be used with virtually any signal conditioning electronics designed for strain gaged sensors. The potentiometers employ a hybrid wire wound around conductive plastic, which provides excellent long term stability. The output from the extensometer is readily interfaced with most existing test controllers, and may be directly input to data acquisition systems and chart recorders. Conducting all the parametric measurements necessary for the numerous test structures on a semiconductor wafer can be a time-consuming and expensive process. With the cost of end-user devices continuing to drop, even laboratory characterization environments must reduce the cost of test.
