Fiber Optic Terminus
ARINC 801
-
The ARINC 801 fiber optic terminus is the next generation of high density, butt joint interconnect technology. With its standard 1.25 mm ferrule and sleeve, the ARINC 801 terminus is designed for both multimode and single-mode applications. For the pull-proof design, the cable jacket is crimped on an external body and a floating mechanism avoids any loss of performance when pulling on the cable. This feature allows for the use of the connector without a backshell. Standard connector formats include MIL-DTL-38999 type, MIL-DTL-83527 type, ARINC 600 and ARINC 781.

Switch Probes
-
A Switch Probe is a spring contact probe and receptacle combination that is normally open, and after a designated travel the switch probe closes. The most common use for switch probes is in the cable harness testing industry. The switch probe is used to verify the correct location of a terminal in a connector while checking the retention force as well. Switch probes also verify the presence of nonconductive components such as caps for connectors or devices on a circuit board. Smiths Interconnect offers three standard sizes of switch probes.

EMI/EMP Connectors
-
Filter connector series includes EMI/ EMP/ESD circular, ARINC, D-subminiature and micro-D connector styles. They can be combined with high energy TVS diode technology to achieve lightning and EMP transient protection. Smiths Interconnect's EMI filter connectors use multi-layer ceramic capacitor arrays together with inductive materials to realize robust, high performance low pass filter networks. Where required, transient protection can be combined with EMI /RFI filtering to provide maximum protection. The diodes as well as the EMI filter are packaged separately so the construction of the connector remains modular.

Spring Probes
-
Spring probes are designed to optimize performance in high reliability, multicycle applications. Smiths Interconnect's spring probes, featuring IDI contact technology, are compliant which makes them ideal for blind mate applications as they self correct for x, y, z, rotational and angular misalignment of the target. Offered in compressed heights less than 2 mm and utilized on pitches as tight as 0.4 mm, they are well suited for high density, board-to-board, battery contact and high frequency applications.
