Trace Gas Analyzers
Campbell Scientific offers both open-path and closed-path trace gas analyzers for measuring carbon dioxide and water vapor. Campbell Scientific also offers a closed-path analyzer for measuring methane, nitrous oxide, or isotopologs of carbon dioxide.

Vibrating Wire Peripherals
Many Campbell Scientific vibrating-wire peripherals enable dataloggers to read vibrating-wire sensors (also known as vibrating-wire or vibrating-strip transducers). These sensors measure strain, load, pressure, and water level, and they output a frequency signal generated by a vibrating filament. Campbell Scientific also offers vibrating-wire dataloggers that read the sensors directly.

Software
Data acquisition software is used for a variety of purposes: to support datalogger programming, enable communication between dataloggers and computers or mobile devices, manage data files, and display data in graphical formats. More advanced users can add custom capabilities or interfaces with our software development kits.

Dataloggers
CR300-Series
CR300 dataloggers are small, low-cost, high-value dataloggers with many of the features of other Campbell Scientific dataloggers. In addition, the CR300 dataloggers offer faster communications, low power requirements, built-in USB, and excellent analog input accuracy and resolution.

Present Weather Sensors
Present weather sensors use a laser-based technology to measure the size and velocity of water droplets in the air to determine visibility, measure precipitation rate, and identify precipitation type (for example, drizzle, rain, snow, and hail). These sensors are often incorporated in automatic weather stations for road, marine, and airport applications.

Soil Heat Flux Sensors
Soil heat flux sensors may consist of several thermocouples whose measurements are averaged, a single thermopile, or a single thermopile with a film heater. These sensors measure the rate of energy transferred through a surface. Data regarding the amount of energy stored in soil as a function of time is used in energy-balance and Bowen-ratio flux systems.

Expansion Peripherals
Expansion peripherals are used with data loggers to achieve many purposes, including the following: add additional channels, extend data communications networks, perform media conversions, read vibrating wire sensors, and build distributed measurement networks.

Snow Water Equivalent and Snow Depth Sensors
Campbell Scientific offers two types of sensors for snowpack applications: snow water equivalent (SWE) sensors and snow depth sensors. SWE sensors measure the amount of water contained within a snowpack. Snow depth sensors measure the depth of the snowpack.

Datalogger Support Software
Datalogger support software packages help enable datalogger programming, communication between dataloggers and PCs, and, to varying capabilities, real-time and historical data monitoring. These software packages provide support for a single station or an entire datalogger network.

Vibrating Wire Dataloggers
Vibrating-wire dataloggers have the built-in capability to measure vibrating-wire sensors. These dataloggers use patented spectral analysis technology.

Fuel Moisture and Fuel Temperature Sensors
Fuel moisture and fuel temperature sensors emulate and measure the moisture content and temperature of similarly sized twigs on the forest floor. The sensors are typically used as part of larger systems, such as fire weather stations with dataloggers and telemetry capability, to remotely assess changing fuel conditions and potential fire hazards.

Ceilometers
Campbell Scientific offers ceilometers that use lidar (light detection and ranging) technology to measure cloud height, vertical visibility, and mixing layer height. While they are best known for their use in aircraft operations at airports and oil platform helipads, ceilometers are also used by meteorologists for boundary layer research and air-quality applications.

Redox (ORP) Sensors
ORP sensors measure the oxidation-reduction potential—the tendency to gain or lose electrons when a solution comes in contact with a chemical substance. ORP measurements are used to ensure that a solution has been completely reduced or oxidized. ORP sensors are often used in tandem with pH sensors, which measure the hydrogen ion activity in a solution.

Freezing Rain and Ice Detectors
Freezing-rain and ice detectors detect the presence of icing conditions so that appropriate actions can be taken to prevent damage to power and communication lines, to warn of road hazards, to keep ice off a plane’s wings, and to prevent ice from forming on turbine blades.

Output and Control Peripherals
Output and control peripherals enable you to add channels to control other devices, such as activating external devices and increasing the number of digital output or digital input channels of a data logger. Some of these peripherals have built-in relays to control external devices, and other peripherals may require connected relays depending on what you want to control.
