Fourier Transform Optical Spectrum Analyzer, 600 - 1700 nm
OSA202C
-
Thorlabs' Optical Spectrum Analyzers (OSAs) perform highly accurate spectral measurements. Compatible with fiber-coupled and free-space light sources, these compact benchtop instruments suit a wide variety of applications, such as analyzing the spectrum of a telecom signal, resolving the Fabry-Perot modes of a gain chip, and identifying gas absorption lines. Many commonly available OSAs use grating-based monochromators, which have slow acquisition times due to the need to mechanically scan the grating and average out noise at each wavelength. Thorlabs' OSAs acquire the spectrum via a Fourier transform using a scanning Michelson interferometer in a push/pull configuration. This approach dramatically improves the acquisition time, enables a high-precision wavelength meter mode with 7 significant figures and ±1 part-per-million accuracy, and allows the included software to provide robust statistical analysis of the acquired spectra, as explained in the Design tab.

Extinction Ratio Meter
-
The ERM100 is an extinction ratio meter based on the rotating polarizer technique. This benchtop device offers a fast and simple way to measure the ER of Polarization Maintaining (PM) fibers. It is an easy-to-use device that may be utilized in many applications where the alignment of PM fibers is required.

Optical Isolators
-
Thorlabs manufactures a wide selection of narrowband and broadband free-space optical isolators (Faraday isolators) that operate in spectral ranges from 365 nm to 9.80 µm, including high-power options, as well as fiber isolators designed for wavelength ranges from 650 to 2010 nm for polarization-independent versions and 770 nm to 2010 nm for polarization-dependent versions. For customers whose needs are not met by our stock selection, we offer a custom isolator service that can combine the best features across our entire isolator family. The Optical Isolator Selection Guide displays wavelength ranges and isolator types for all stocked isolators.

Optical Power And Energy Meters
-
Thorlabs' expanding line of optical power and energy meters includes power meter consoles, a large selection of sensor heads, a wireless power meter with a built-in photodiode sensor, and a fiber optic power meter designed for use in the field. The consoles (PM100, PM400, and PM300 Series) when paired with our extensive line of power and energy sensors provide calibrated (NIST traceable) measurements across a broad range of powers, energies, and wavelengths. The console(s) and sensor(s) can be purchased individually or as bundles based on our most popular console and sensor pairings. The sensor calibration data is stored in the sensor head and is automatically read by the console, which allows the user to use multiple sensors with the same console. Compatible sensors are easily identified by the red c-series connector. All of our old A/B-Type sensors are available with the new connector; plus, we have continued to expand our power and energy sensor product lines.

Fiber End Face Interferometer
-
Thorlabs' GL16 End Face Interferometer measures and images the end face geometry of single- and multi-fiber connectors. A non-contact technique called scanning white-light interferometry (SWLI) provides high accuracy, repeatability, and reliability for fiber connector testing, particularly for pass/fail testing using IEC or Telcordia requirements. The system can be controlled locally through the touchscreen display or remotely through a browser-based application (see Software tab for details), allowing it to be easily integrated on the production floor.

Mode-Conditioned Light Sources
-
Thorlabs' Mode-Conditioned Light Sources are fiber-coupled LED sources that have an output with a flat-top profile in the far field. Common applications include the testing of multimode fused fiber components as well as verification of modal behavior in fiber-based setups. Standard fiber-coupled LED sources can have a range of output profiles that are usually not uniform and vary from source to source. This can be dependent on emitter orientation, alignment with fiber tip, and connector assembly. These mode-conditioned sources have been engineered to distribute light evenly into all transverse modes, resulting in an equilibrium modal distribution at the output. The front panel includes an adjustment knob to control the power and an output port that accepts 2.2 mm wide-key FC/PC connectors. A DS15 15 V power supply with a location-specific plug is included with each device.
