CompactPCI® Serial (PICMG CPCI-S.0) is a new modular computer standard officially adopted by PICMG in 2011. The CompactPCI Serial standard defines a completely new connector to support high-speed serial interfaces including PCI Express, SATA, USB and Ethernet. A CompactPCI Serial backplane has six high-speed connectors P1 to P6 on the system slot but only P1 is mandatory on peripheral slots, P2 to P6 being optional. A CompactPCI Serial system can comprise a total of nine blades (one system blade and eight peripheral I/O blades) through an Ethernet full mesh or single star architecture. The CompactPCI® Serial standard is the next-generation of the CompactPCI® specification and provides more flexibility and higher speed and bandwidth in modular system solutions.

The cPCI-R6500 Series is 6U CompactPCI rear transition module (RTM) designed for use with ADLINK 6U CompactPCI CPU blades. The cPCI-R6500 is an RTM equipped with an ATI graphics module to provide additional graphics performance for embedded applications and supports comprehensive rear I/O functionality. Dual independent display output is via two DVI ports and an onboard Realtek ALC262 High Definition Audio Codec provides analog audio output from the audio controller on the CPU blade. The cPCI-R6500 requires a compatible 6U CompactPCI backplane with rear I/O support and correctly configured CPU blade.

This conduction cooled 6U CompactPCI dual slot PMC provides an active interface between the CompactPCI bus (backplane) and a PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC). This product addresses the needs of aerospace, military, and rugged applications. It contains a thermal heat frame made of aluminum that fits together with conduction cooled PMC modules. Conduction cooling conducts heat away from the hot spots of the board and transfers the heat to the card edges and to the system chassis. No active ventilation is necessary inside of the system, which means the boards are sealed from the environmental influences found outside of the chassis. The heat frame and integrated wedge locks for the conduction cooling stiffens the carrier and PMC module enabling the board to resist high shock and vibration.
