It is to be ensured that these instrument transformers are giving proper outputs to the protective relays. MagD is used to plot excitation curves for instrument transformers. Inbuilt voltmeter and ammeter, eliminates the need of external meters for plotting of curves. It can also be used for de-magnetization of transformer cores and also turns-ratio tests can be conducted using MagD.
