Darlington devices are high-voltage, high-current switch arrays containing multiple open-collector Darlington pairs or multiple Darlington transistors with common emitters, and integral suppression diodes for inductive loads. The nominal current rating of each output is 500 mA for the 7- and 8-output devices and up to 1.5 A for quad-output devices. With the trend towards longer ranges and “shoot and scoot” drills, the concept of capturing the muzzle blast noise becomes questionable, as the speed of sound is too slow to provide timely localizations.
