The Lumistar LS-27-B Modular Dual Channel Tri-Band Tracking and Data Receiver is Lumistar’s third generation of modular high performance FM Receivers. This wideband designs supports one or two independent channels of PCM with data rates up to 20Mbps. The unit includes both an optional FM demodulated output for PCM data, and standard programmable AM/linear AGC outputs for auto-tracking receivers. The design offers 8 IF Bandwidths and 8 Video Filters per channel for each receiver.AC coupling with a low pass filter is employed to ensure a high quality data link with long strings of NRZ-L ones or zeroes. The unit provides a software selectable 10 MHz reference I/O port forlocking local oscillators to a high precision external source or to arrange multiple units in a master/slave arrangement. Its internal high voltage generator is inductor-free and hence does not spread magnetic interference in sensitive experimental setups. The output noise is impressively low at 3mVrms. For extremely low noise applications where bandwidth is not an issue, a dedicated WMA-005LF version is available that contains an output low pass filter capacitor which reduces the bandwidth to 50Hz, but makes the noise drop to below 0.1mVrms. This bandwidth-limited amplifier is ideal for MEMS or piezo positioning with manual voltage adjustment.

The J2190A active filter presents a high impedance (approximately 150kOhms) minimizing the loading of the circuit being tested. The output impedance is 50 Ohms allowing low noise coaxial connections to all typical test equipment. The 0.1Hz-10Hz noise band is common for opamp measurements, voltage regulators and voltage references. Many application notes offer schematics of such a filter for test purposes. An engineer’s time is much too valuable to be spent building test equipment. We have created a 4th order high pass and 4th order low pass filter with an optimally flat response and 0dB gain.
