External Pre-amplifiers
Although all Spectrum A/D cards have a very powerful input section with a highly configurable input amplifier and a variety of input ranges it is sometimes necessary to have additional external amplifiers if the signal to acquire has an extremely low level. Spectrum offers a range of perfectly matching external amplifiers to cover such cases. These powerful amplifiers have been rated using the Spectrum cards and offer best performance together with high amplification rates.The amplifiers are simply connected between the signal source and the Spectrum A/D card input and can be manually switched between different settings using small lever keys. All amplifiers allow the offset compensation by using an adjustable screw.

Low Noise Pre-Amplifiers
Low Noise Pre-Amplifier and companion external low noise amplifier (LNA) are used to amplify low level microwave signals. The Pre-Amplifier contains an AC/DC power supply, internal low noise amplifier, and a bias tee to source a DC bias voltage on the RF input connector.To overcome cable loss between the test antenna and the Pre-Amplifier assembly, a remote low noise amplifier (LNA) is mounted directly onto the 10 GHz antenna. A bias tee inside the Pre-Amplifier chassis powers the remote LNA through the coax cable interconnecting the pre-amplifier and the 10 GHz test antenna.

Scanner Probe
RFS set
The RFS set consits of three passive near field probes designed for the use in a measurement scanner during the development of E-field and magnetic field. They are designed for frequency ranges of 30 MHz to 3 GHz. The probe heads of the RFS set allow for close measurements needed to correctly localize interference sources on an electronic assembly. They document the whole image of the device under test`s near field. The scanner probes have a sheath current attenuation and are electrically shielded. They are connected to a spectrum analyzer or an oscilloscope with a 50 Ω input. They do not have an internal terminating resistance. The measuring signal can be increased with PA 203 or PA 303 preamplifier. On request RFS, LFS and XFS scanner probes can be produced.

The 378A04 is a matched system that is comprised of a high sensitivity microphone and a low noise preamplifier that contains a built-in filter that enables the free-field response to remain flat over a wide frequency range. The system requires a minimum of 4 mA and measures to 6.5 dBA (5.5 dBA typical) within a cost efficient, prepolarized (0V) design. PCB's model 378A04, the industry's first prepolarized low noise microphone and preamplifier system allows you to measure extremely low amplitudes. RjP-600 Series
The RjP-600 Series energy probes integrate the detector and preamplifier in the same enclosure, thereby maximizing signal integrity between the detector and preamplifier. This permits longer cable runs between the probe and instrument, as is often necessary in production environments. Probe specific information, like calibration date and wavelength response curves, is stored in the probe for access by the instrument.
