The SP6T series of 6-way absorptive and reflective switches manufactured by Pulsar Microwave cover applications from 300 MHz to 12 GHz. They have an isolation of 60 decibels and most models specify 1.6:1 or better return loss throughout frequency band. These 6-way switches require a +/- 5VDC supply to operate. Switching control uses individual 0-5V TTL control logic. Voltage and logic control interfaces into a system using a 9-pin D-SUB connector installed.

These converters have been designed to convert the transition times of instruments with fixed, fast transition times, to slower, fixed transition-times (150 ps, 250 ps, 500 ps, 1 ns, 2 ns); hence reducing the signal bandwidth. All transition-times are between 10% and 90% of amplitude.The design of these converters ensures very low signal reflection far beyond the 3 dB point. Reducing the signal transition-times also increases the overall pulse-performance for overshoot/reflection sensitive applications. This system is designed specifically to evaluate the Optical Anisotropy Factor (OPTAF) of cross sections of TRISO nuclear fuel pyrocarbon layers. Other possible material characterizations include measuring Mueller matrix elements of other crystals, carbon compounds, and thin film coatings (e.g. surfacedeposition films) at normal incidence. The 2-MGEM can also measure retardation (d), circular diattenuation (CD) and the polarization factor (ß). These parameters are not measurable using older techniques, since those techniques do not incorporate a compensating optical element.
