The base FastX1703, is a two thirds length raw form factor PCI board six basic 85 MHz Camera Link Channels or an extended Camera Link camera interface. An auxilliary I/O connector provides a header for adaptation of other high speed interfaces such as LVDS or high speed analog formats such as UXGA or DVI. The front-end data is formatted and preprocessed by a FPGA before being sent to the memory subsection, up to four PNX1702 500 MHz processors with 256MB memory each. Finally, the FastX1703 interfaces to the host computer through a 4xPCIe interface for state-of-the-art data acquisition.

If used in differential mode each two inputs are connected together reducing the number of available channels by half. The ATG-9100 is an example of a laboratory-quality instrument that will simulate complex target motion. Microwave signals from the speed camera enter the instrument through an integrated antenna which is then downconverted and digitized. Target simulation data is added to the digitized signal to provide range and Doppler information. The modified digital data is then converted back to an IF and upconverted to the original microwave frequency of the speed camera and radiated back through the antenna. Since the ATG-9100 can be phase-locked to an external 10 MHz reference standard, this instrument is suitable for use as a calibration standard for speed cameras.
