Light Sources
There are many low cost artificial light sources used for illumination or for industrial applications: tungsten or halogen bulbs, fluorescent lamps, LED lamps etc. Some of these sources have regulated intensity of emitted light. However, there very few calibrated light sources of precisely known parameters. A light source can be considered as calibrated when its user can precisely regulate its photometric/radiometric parameters like luminance (or illuminance), radiance (or irradiance) at defined spectrum of interest. Such light sources are needed in many applications among them, in systems for testing night vision devices, VIS-NIR cameras and SWIR imagers. Calibration Light Sources

The LS-HP1 is a series of high-power, high brightness light sources for liquid light guides (LLG). It is characterized by its outstanding luminance and thus delivers very high light output from liquid light guides. The LS-HP1 works with the latest generation of high-power LEDs with up to 100W power from an area of less than 15mm². With the LS-HP1 series, we achieve the highest luminance levels through optimized optical coupling into the liquid light guide without heating it up too much. The LS-HP1 is available for liquid light guides with core diameters of 3 or 5mm.

Retractable Sources
Veeco’s retractable sources address fundamental limitations of MBE, including source capacity, source removal for maintenance and system uptime. The retractable source allows an individual source to be withdrawn and isolated from the growth environment with the source gate valve and then removed without venting the entire chamber. The source can then be easily refilled with the same material or a new material before being remounted at standard positions to the growth module, allowing growths to continue with minimal interruption. This saves the user from re-qualifying new source to substrate distances and multiple weeks of downtime by avoiding the process of an entire system vent and bake. In addition, the differential pumping option provides a marked improvement in base pressure around the source to reduce contamination of the source material and provide longer lifetimes for sources in corrosive and oxidizing environments.
